Here’s a quick Q&A with Marinda Badenhorst who came 1st in Women’s Transformation in Sleekgeek’s latest ULTIMATE YOU 8-Week Transformation Challenge (sign up for the new challenge now at www.ultimateyou.co.za)!
QUESTION 1: Give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
A: I always train & try to eat healthy, the last part being the most difficult. I was at a point where I felt that I was wasting my time. Training really hard but the diet wasn’t good. I had to decide if it’s worth the effort. I got my head in the game, got a online trainer & started to lose weight.
QUESTION 2: What prompted you to join the ULTIMATE YOU Transformation Challenge?
A: It would be something to work for. It would keep me motivated.
QUESTION 3: Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
A: I started with a low carb diet but it changed to carb cycling and that worked really well with my body. As I said I got a online personal trainer, he is awesome.
QUESTION 4: Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
A: I was training 5-6 times a week. One muscle group per day – legs (my problem area) twice a week with 25 min of cardio every day.
QUESTION 5: If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
A: (1.) My number one rule ALWAYS is that you have to do it for youself, not for your husband or family, for yourself. (2.) Never give up, even if you want to. Don’t. It’s so worth it. (3.) You have to have a support system.
QUESTION 6: What did you find most valuable about your experience?
A: The support I got from my husband, Glen Badenhorst who entered the challenge with me. He still tells me how proud he is of me. He made me feel like a winner since day one. I couldn’t have done it without him.
