Keep reading below to find out how to win.
adidas has been supporting Sleekgeek since 2016 (8 years!) and we always love how well their brand messaging fits with our community.
This year, adidas‘ key message is:
YOU GOT THIS
It’s a positive rallying cry that motivates all people to believe they can overcome pressure and achieve their personal possibilities.
Think of “YOU GOT THIS” feeling like something that people would say to one another as words of encouragement and reassurance.
Whether you’re a high-level athlete about to perform under the pressure of competition, or just a regular Sleekgeek juggling the pressure of everyday life…
YOU GOT THIS is about:
- Knowing your WHY for doing what you’re doing.
- Reminding yourself about the good stuff in life.
- Staying focused on the bright future that you’re working towards.
- Remembering that life is better when you’re healthy.
- Silencing that self-doubt and negative outside pressure.
- Giving yourself permission to enjoy the journey along the way without needing to be perfect.
- Making sure that you keep showing up, staying consistent, and persisting with your goals.
- Cheering for yourself and reminding yourself that YOU GOT THIS.

It’s up to you what you want your entry to look like.
It might be a post about you mustering up the willpower to go gym after a long day of work… It might be a video of you considering the different food options in your kitchen and choosing the healthier options… It might be a photo of you getting into bed for an early night of sleep despite wanting to stay up late to watch TV… It might be a description of some of the doubts and limiting beliefs you’re struggling with right now and how you’re working to overcome them.
Remember, adidas’ YOU GOT THIS campaign is about motivating yourself to overcome the pressure of everyday life – especially in the context of health and fitness.
We want to see you digging deep and reminding yourself of your “why”. We want to see you focusing on that exciting bright future you’re working towards. We want to see you silencing that self-doubt and overcoming that negative outside pressure.
We want to see you cheering for yourself and reminding yourself that YOU GOT THIS!
And we’d love to see you cheering other Sleekgeeks on in the comments of their posts too!
Entries close 16 September, 2024 – winner will be announced shortly thereafter via the Sleekgeek Newsletter.
MORE INFORMATION:
Backyard Mindset:
In adidas‘ YOU GOT THIS campaign they talk about the “Backyard Mindset”.
The Backyard Mindset is a place in our minds, where we go to disarm pressure.
It’s a way of describing an athlete’s (or Sleekgeek’s) ability to focus on what really matters, to cut out the noise, to shrink pressure down and take away its power.
It’s about entering a headspace where sport is all about enjoyment just like it always was in your backyard. It’s about remembering all of the good parts of your health and fitness journey.
Negative Pressure:
Negative pressure is the expectation of others that makes everything feel unattainable.
It makes the optimism of sport (or your health and fitness journey) feel unattainable.
And it is distinct from pressure that motivates you or pushes you further.
Everyday Athlete
It’s not just elite athletes that feel negative pressure.
We ALL feel the pressure to look a certain way or perform a certain way.
The challenges and problems that we face, whether elite athletes or everyday people, are all valid.
The Switch Moment
This is a powerful moment of transition, in which you disarm negative pressure by engaging your “Backyard Mindset”.
Where you go from feeling pressured and full of self-doubt to feeling focused and joyful.
The switch moment is engaged moments before the action: Seconds before you take a game-changing shot, or the minutes leading up to an important match, or even just as you’re about to walk into the gym, office, or kitchen.
