Q&A with Willem Jacobus Stapelberg:

We sat down with Willem who placed fifth in the men’s Weight Loss category of our Summer Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.


Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

Before my eating habits weren’t great. Ate what was easiest and quickest.

What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?

My wife asked me to do the challenge with her. I wanted to support her and agreed to doing it for her. I am glad I did as it actually really helped me looking at nutrition in a better way and changed my outlook on what I eat.

Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

Sleekgeek has this very handy eating guide and suggestions. I tried sticking to the portion sizes suggested as well as the green list of food options. It helped me not to over complicate things and effectively stay on track.

Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

I moved more every day! Increased my daily steps and tried fitting in a workout between my busy schedule. Most important was just to move more and sit less.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

  1. Keep it simple.
  2. Doing a little bit better today is better than changing nothing.
  3. Make this a lifestyle change and not just a weight loss fad.
  4. Do something today to make tomorrow better.

Why should people enter the challenge?

It will change your outlook on living a healthier life. Just do it, it could change your life!
