Q&A with Peter Furstenburg:

We sat down with Peter who placed third in the Men’s Weight Loss category of our Summer Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.


Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

Before the challenge I wasn’t as active as I should have been and was not making the best eating choices and habits.

What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?

This is my fourth challenge and I needed to put in a lot of self-motivation and focus this time around to reach my end goals.

Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

I didn’t stick to an eating plan at all. I decided that I would make wiser food decisions and made sure I was eating smaller portions than I would normally have eaten before. I also limited my alcohol and caffeine intake throughout the challenge.

Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

I signed up for a couch to 5k program and tried to jog/run everyday. It started off slow but am now managing a good 5km, and have also pushed myself twice and finished a 7km run. Haven’t managed to do that in a really long time. I also tried to do online cardio workout sessions at least 3 times a week.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

  1. Make the right eating choices, eat smaller portions.
  2. Try and be as active as you can be, even if you walk around the block a few times, it’s more than you would be doing sitting on the couch.
  3. Make realistic goals and try your best to achieve them.

Why should people enter the challenge?

The challenge made me feel better as a person. I feel fitter and am really enjoying my active life at the moment, I’m sure if others try this challenge, they can also feel like this.
