We sat down with Jade who placed second in the Women’s Transformation category of our Summer Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I have always been driven by fitness due to my weight constantly fluctuating. I have also struggled with depression and insomnia for 2/3’s of my life, but after years of psychotherapy I have made an easy habit of starting my day off with an early morning workout to elevate my endorphins before my mind decides it’s mood for the day.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I weighed 93kgs when my son was born in November 2021 – this was the heaviest I had ever been. I lost all my self confidence, and motivation. My best friend, Natasha Armstrong, introduced me to the Sleekgeek Health Revolution, and after seeing her results I then entered in the Winter 2022 challenge and placed 8th in the Transformation category…This motivated me to work harder in the Summer 2023 Challenge.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I had a strict eating and low-calorie nutritional plan; I did intermittent fasting, I meal prepped every Sunday for the week ahead, I cut out carbs / sugar / dairy / alcohol, drank 2-3 litres of water a day. I allowed myself 4 ‘cheat’ meals which helped reboot my system.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
My fitness plan was insane! For 5 days a week; I crushed the roadblocks every morning at 4am and did weight training in the evenings. On Saturday’s I would combine roadblocks with weight training and on Sunday’s I would do light roadblocks as an ‘active rest day’.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Plan your 8-week challenge; nutrition, workouts, goals etc. – this is imperative for your subconscious.
- Meal prep on Sundays for the week ahead to help you stay focused – this will allow less opportunity for you to divert off your meal plan.
- Don’t count the weeks… focus on one day at a time and congratulate yourself after each and every single achievement / workout / ‘clean’ eating… basically every goal.
Why should people enter the challenge?
It’s never easy to begin a challenge like this alone… because you’ll always feel alone. Joining The Sleekgeek Health Revolution community will give you the fight to take your last match and make an explosion.
