We sat down with Euline who placed fifth in the Women’s Transformation category of our Summer Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
A few years ago, I suffered a motorcycle accident and suffered a great deal physically and emotionally. Consequently, I gained a lot of weight and lost a great deal of self-confidence. I had a long journey with rehab and trying to get back to being normal but was very slow and what I felt was an unproductive outcome. Last year I decided that this was the year to get my life back together.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I started to put all my effort into my own health and well-being and made every effort to make better choices from nutrition, exercises, sleep and overall lifestyle to get back to feeling better about myself. I came across the 21 strong challenge on Facebook which after having a successful 21 days and being encouraged with the way this was being run and actioned, I decided to join the Transformation Challenge and give it my best shot.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I have tried various eating plans, but with this challenge I decided to keep as balanced a diet as possible, but I did cut out all alcohol and allowed myself one piece of dark Lindt choc every day, so I didn’t fall prey to the cravings which had been my downfall in the past.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
Every day I had a goal to do a minimum of 12,000 steps and ensured every day I did as many roadblocks as possible, on days I was feeling tired I did just a few but still did something and some rowing as a cool down at the end of my session in order to get a full body workout.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Following what works for you, sometime things are suggested that just can’t be done.
- Don’t be too hard on yourself, yes push as much as you can but if you push too hard you will just set yourself back instead.
- And believe in yourself, you are your biggest cheerleader, just being able to make that 1% improvement from the day before is better than doing nothing. Life is too short not to make the best of it, and I have decided to make every day enjoyable, but also feel good about myself while doing so.
Why should people enter the challenge?
The challenge is absolutely awesome, you get given so much info which you can use to make the best-informed decisions possible for yourself. I joined a team which was an enormous help to keep me motivated and I hope I did the same for them in return. Yes, this is a challenge but it’s like being part of a big family.
