We sat down with Stanley who placed third in the Men’s Transformation category of our Winter’s 8-Week Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I am a road runner from the age of 14 and in recent years time for running was in short supply. This brought about the weight gain. It escalated to such a point that trying to run with such an overweight body had its own challenges. My wife challenged me to do this with her and that was it!
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
My wife has done a few challenges and also ended as a winner previously, so she challenged me to do it with her. What is a bit of good old rivalry in the marriage!!
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I started to watch what I eat and when as well as the quantities etc.

I started out with low mileage but tried to increase it every second week or so, but most important I tried to do a run at least 3 – 4 times a week.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
Get a clear goal, not too out of the way!
Stick to what works for you!
Never give up, if you have the health, treasure it! If not, take it back!
Why should people enter the challenge?
It gives you accountability towards yourself and others. If you have a difficult week, you are most certainly not alone, and that teammate encouragement is what pulls you through.
