We sat down with Shaun who placed second in the Men’s Transformation category of our Winter’s 8-Week Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I started my weight loss journey in April 2021 at 167.4kg. In October 2021 I did my 1st Sleekgeek challenge, starting weight at 147.3kg. I won 3rd place in that Summer Challenge and the prize was 3 months online coaching from Craig Brown (CSB Bodyfusion) His “magic” together with the support from the SG teams, leaders and the SG community has really changed my life.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
This Winter 2023 challenge was my 6th consecutive challenge. Joining a team helps to stay focused and I get a lot of inspiration from the members’ success. I am not even close to where I want to be, but I’m much better from where I started at 167.4 kg. Yes, “I fall off the wagon” from time to time but doing every challenge keeps me dedicated and committed for at least 24 weeks of the year.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I learned a lot from my team leaders and the SG community. I received a meal/nutrition plan from Craig Brown (CSB Bodyfusion), and I used that, together with Sleekgeek habits. My diet consists of proteins, carbs, fats and fibre.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
Training is not always possible due to a medical condition affecting my CNS and right lower leg and foot. But I like the roadblocks that are part of the team challenges and on my “good days” I like to do some weight training.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
Be patient when it comes to reaching your fitness goals. Results take time.
Consistency is key… get in the habit of making better/healthier choices regarding your health, nutrition/meals and daily habits.
Have realistic expectations and goals for your journey.
Why should people enter the challenge?
Joining the SG challenge provides accountability and support, especially when joining one of the SG teams. The SG meal and training plans assist to reach your goals. The challenges really changed my life for the better.
