We sat down with Mario who placed fifth in the Men’s Weight Loss category of our Winter’s 8-Week Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I was big all my life from a young age. 5 Years ago, I was at my max weight of 228 kg. It was bad. I tried lots of diets in the last 3 years but never kept going. When I started the Sleekgeek challenge I was just over 204 kgs and as I started to lose weight I had never felt better. Did a bit of exercise. It was hard at the beginning but the more I started to move the more I wanted to.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I liked their Facebook page about 3 years or more ago and always said I wanted to do a challenge. So, this time I just joined and did it and will never regret it. Going to do the next one definitely again and again.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I did not have a specific eating plan. In the 1st 4 week’s I used the 28-day diet plan and the second 4 week’s I made up my own plan with a bit more protein.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
I’m on the road driving most of the time. So, it’s difficult to stick to an exercise plan. When I get a chance to walk I do it and about 2 or so days a week when I’m home I will go to the park to exercise.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
Don’t think, just do it. It is a life changer from where I was before I started. This will definitely change your life.
Why should people enter the challenge?
This was a life changer for me. I will never look back or go back to my old habits again. The support here is great. Even if you don’t have to lose a lot of weight like me it is totally worth doing this challenge.
