We sat down with Marco who placed fourth in the Men’s Weight Loss category of our Winter’s 8-Week Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
My weight was always up and down, and I gained more than before with yo-yo diets.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I looked at it for a few years, now and after seeing it worked for so many, I decided to give it a go.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
Lots of protein and meal ideas from Irene my coach. The meals were filling and not boring at all.
I ate food I already ate and had less or cooked differently. Example boiling chicken instead of adding oil.
I even had takeaways some days but had less or healthier options. I did not have to go cold turkey so to say by excluding foods I like. Lots of water and shakes throughout the week. Also, homemade smoothies.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
Training was very simple. Lots of walking. The roadblock exercises. Doing some extra cleaning around the house to get the steps in, taking the stairs instead of the lift even if it is small changes which I was able to continue and sustain.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
Have fun! Always remember your why. Make use of all the resources from Sleekgeek from getting your mindset on the right track to joining a team/ buddy’s.
Why should people enter the challenge?
If you value your health and wellbeing, you should definitely enter. It is a lifelong walk and Sleekgeek has been there for me for 4 challenges and I do not regret it at all. I made so many friends and will definitely join future challenges.
