We sat down with Angelo who placed second in the Men’s Weight Loss category of our Winter’s 8-Week Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
Before the challenge I was an overweight, emotional wreck. My mind was foggy. I had little energy. I felt low. I felt sad. I ate every time I felt that way!!! An absolute rollercoaster to hell…
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I needed help! I could feel myself slipping. I could feel myself loosing myself. I needed something or someone to help me get the ball rolling. I’ve done previous challenges, and I knew I needed to help myself. The Sleekgeek challenge gives you all the tools and support YOU need to change YOUR situation.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
This challenge I started experimenting with fasting! It was really helpful for me in the beginning. The first week started, I started with breakfast in the morning and tried to fast till 5pm. Then in the third week I started eating breakfast later, around 11/12pm and had a smaller supper around 5. By the second month I was skipping breakfast overall and having a massive supper around 5pm. Breakfast would usually contain oats with peanut butter and honey (everyday) with about 4 boiled eggs. Supper would be lots of protein. Either chicken, fish, mince, steak. When I say lots, I mean lots. Like 4 thighs and 4 drumsticks! LOL! Then I would add sweet potato or normal ones, sometimes spinach, sometimes rice.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
My training plan consisted of working one muscle group a day, with cardio in between. Monday would be chest only, Tuesday arms only, Wednesday legs only, Thursday shoulders only. Every session would start with 20 min. cardio and end with 20 min cardio.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
Visualize the type of person you want to be. Be very specific. It really helps with starting and staying on track to get the results you want.
Journal your feelings and your responses to them! Knowing what your feelings make you do is something that helped me massively overcome emotional eating.
Don’t give up on yourself and don’t be afraid to start over. Even if you have a bad day, pick yourself up and go again. Trust the community of like-minded people. 💚
Why should people enter the challenge?
You should enter the challenge because it keeps YOU accountable to YOUR own goals! We need to be kept accountable. We cannot do it on our own.
