We sat down with Allison who placed third in the Women’s Transformation category of our Winter’s 8-Week Challenge 2023. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I always started the journey strong, but then gave up as no results were seen. I was uncomfortable, heavy, miserable, did not sleep well, had anxiety through the roof, and felt unpretty.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation?
When looking in the mirror, I did not recognise the person looking back at me. I felt extremely heavy and uncomfortable and no clothing could fit me anymore. When it got to the point where it was uncomfortable for me to even tie my shoelaces, I knew I had to take immediate action.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I found the green, orange and red list very helpful during the challenge and still use it today.
I also ensured that I had protein which I coupled with either a salad or vegetables. I incorporated veggie days which were twice a week and totally cut out sugar. For breakfast, my go too was a smoothie/oats.
Lunch, protein and salad/veg. Supper made use of the awesome recipes that were shared by the Sleekgeek Team.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
Training consisted of 5 days in the gym for 1h30min (Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri and Sat).
I’d also start my session with 10 min cardio and end my session with 10 min cardio. My sessions/days consisted of pull day full body (focus on all pull muscles), push day full body (focus on all push muscles), and abs day (pure focus on core) – all focused on a combination of bodyweight and weight training.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
It all starts with DAY 1! Consistency is key! The first 2 weeks are the HARDEST, after that, it actually becomes part of your daily routine.
Why should people enter the challenge?
It will change your LIFE, it will save your LIFE!!!!!!
