Q&A with Werone Maritz:

We sat down with Werone who placed fifth in the Women’s Weight loss category of our Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.

Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

This was my 3rd Sleekgeek Challenge. I was so motivated from the previous Challenge that I could not miss the 3rd Challenge! Before my first Sleekgeek challenge I was 44kg heavier and unfit! I gave up so easily and never finished a fitness or weight-loss goal.

Until now, Sleekgeek helped me to be a better version of myself! A better me than I was yesterday and helped me to stay consistent and motivated! Not just for myself but also for my Sleekgeek family!

Without my Sleekgeek family I would not be able to finish this successfully.

What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?

I was looking for some information about a healthy exercise lifestyle. Just to be a better me! To start now and not just the next Monday!

Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

For me the most important nutritional goal I set for myself is to be consistent in what I choose, and I chose high protein and low carb.

Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

My weekly goal was 21km in total. Run or walk as long as I did my 21 kms for the week. I’m also a mom of 3 and woke up early morning to view the YouTube videos that were posted on our WhatsApp group, which was part of my weekly routine.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

Small steps are better than big steps!
Be consistent!
Be better than you were yesterday.
