Q&A with Samantha Chamberlain:

We sat down with Samantha who placed fifth in the Women’s Transformation category of our Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.


Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

I started my journey after my first pregnancy. I tried a couple of fad diets, and nothing stuck. I was always hungry and struggled to exercise with no energy. I lost weight but just picked it up again after binging.

What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?

This was my third challenge; my Team leader is a friend and kept on pushing me to join.

Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

I believe in a balanced diet. I eat 3 meals a day with 2 snacks in-between. I eat correct portions and try to eat the full spectrum of foods. Mornings: Usually Oats/ Futurelife with milk, Snack: Fruit, Lunch: Protein, starch and veg. Second Snack: Protein and Dinner: Protein and veg.

Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

I run 5-8 km twice during the week. Strength training twice a week (basic weight training at home)
Saturdays or Sundays a long run (10-16km) depending on when my next race is.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

Try to find the balance.
Plan your week.
The scale is just a measurement don’t let it drive you crazy.
