We sat down with Kirstie who placed first in the Women’s Transformation category of our Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I came into the challenge 7 weeks post-partum and was excited to get back into my fitness. I hadn’t been exercising during my pregnancy and I had a bit of weight to lose, as well as some toning to do to get my body back into shape.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I was determined to lose the pregnancy weight and when I saw the Sleekgeek 8-week Challenge advertised, I thought it was a great opportunity to keep me accountable.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I 100% followed the recipes on the Sleekgeek website!!! I made a meal plan alternating between the recipes on the blog. They were easy, delicious and affordable.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
I followed a running program to get myself running 5 kms. I did a lot of 8-Week Challenge Team Roadblock exercise tasks, and enjoyed adding the exercises into my HIIT program that I was doing.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
Rely on your Challenge Team – they are an amazing support and friendly competition can go a long way.
Remember why you started – and keep your eyes on the prize.
Believe you can do better, be better and deserve better.
Why should people enter the challenge?
The sense of community in the Sleekgeek family is amazing. It’s inspiring to go onto Facebook and see everyone training, eating well and always trying to improve themselves. Sleekgeek promotes changing your habits, and that’s what fitness and wellness are all about – it has to be a way of life in order to be sustainable.
