Q&A Marius Nel:

We sat down with Marius who placed third in the Men’s Transformation category of our Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.

Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

I was active before the challenge but did not really focus on my eating habits. This challenge encouraged me a lot to focus on my eating habits.

What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?

My wife challenged me to enter the competition with her!

Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

I tried to cut my carbs and sugars. I focused on lean proteins and green types of veggies and salads. I also cut the alcohol to almost zero. I did however have a cheat day or two between my weeks.

Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

I focused on training for a tennis tournament. Therefore, I did try to play tennis at least 3-4 times per week. I focused a lot on increasing my steps every week.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

Do this challenge with a person that can support you.
Focus a lot on your eating habits.
Stick to a plan.
