We sat down with Jade Gullacksen who placed forth in the ladies Transformation category of our Summer 2022 Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
In 2019, after carrying the weight I gained from my first pregnancy for 3 years, SLEEKGEEK challenges helped me get back to a place where I felt good about my body. I then had my second baby in January 2022, and decided to do another challenge to lose the baby weight.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
It was the only thing that helped me lose the weight after my first baby, so after having my second child in January, I decided to enter the 2022 Summer Challenge to get back on track!
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I did a HFLC intermittent fasting plan for this challenge, similar to what I had done before, except this time, because I am breastfeeding, with the guidance and support of my Iron Maidens tribe, had to adjust and increase my calorie intake to more than what I would usually consume so that my milk supply was not impacted.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
I did 3-5 x 30min HIIT morning workouts per week, and tried to fit in a few 2km walks here and there in the afternoons.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
1) The first step/workout/meal/fast is the hardest, and it gets easier day by day, so just stick to it!
2) Listen to your body (especially new mamas!) … it will tell you what you can and can’t do, and then just make small adjustments from there. Consistency is key!
3) Join a team! The team spirit, love and guidance is beyond amazing and makes the whole challenge more enjoyable!”
Why should people enter the challenge?
It’s a platform of people who are all on similar journeys to you… or who have been there once, so they understand what you are going through and can provide the motivation you need when things get tough!
