We sat down with Enslin Opperman who placed third in the men’s Weight loss category of our Summer 2022 Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to his success and he was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I struggled to commit to a routine and to follow a set diet as part of getting fit and in shape. I always seem to quit after a few days.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I saw how well my wife did with the 8-Week winter challenge last year and was inspired to give it a go myself.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I started eating a lot of high protein food and a lot of fibre which I learned from the Evolution DT group.
I also cut out wine and only had a cup of coffee in the mornings. I also increased my water intake although I struggled in the beginning. Added a lot of fruit & vegetables to my diet.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
I am not much of a cardio person and only did the weekly challenge presented in group.
I ran 4 days a week, 5km distance.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- You owe it to yourself to become more fit and healthy.
- You have a solid support group behind you.
- It’s always difficult in the beginning but don’t lose sight of the end results.
Why should people enter the challenge?
It definitely delivers results and makes you much more confident and conscious about being healthy and fit.
