We sat down with Tania Susack who placed third in the Women’s Transformation category of our Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I had great success during the SG New Year Challenge. Then winter hit and I lost my way. I had no idea how to cope with injury and illness and still maintain my fitness.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I knew I needed the supportive community of Sleekgeek to help me figure out how to balance winter and its new set of challenges.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I have special dietary needs so cannot follow an exact SG plan. But I sure do follow their macros. High protein, healthy carbs – balance. Balance is key.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
Burpees – love them! But besides that. I follow a basic HIIT routine with some alternating cardio days. But routine can get boring – and that is where Sleekgeek comes in – I really enjoy mixing it up with the various roadblocks along the way. This time I also focused on increasing my daily steps
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be
- Absolutely give yourself an achievable minimum daily exercise and stick with that no matter what happens.
- For winter this may mean modifying things so you can still do stretches, walking or even light weights when you are not up for anything too strenuous.
- Don’t let 1 bad meal or 1 bad day stop you from moving forward.
Why should people enter the challenge?
Absolutely the community! It’s hard to fail when you are supported by so many non-judgmental caring people. There may be prizes – but this is a healthy competition – everyone is here to support each other to do their best.
