We sat down with Irene Du Preez who placed fourth in the Women’s Weight Loss category of our Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge. We wanted to find out the secret to her success and she was happy to share it with us.
Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I have been up and down – tracking calories but staying more or less in the same place the whole time.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
I did last year’s challenge and for me, I need accountability to stay focused.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I did calorie tracking – focused on protein macros but also still had some daily treats within my calorie budget.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge
I did daily 5km walks and some HITT workouts.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Join a team – the spirit and accountability are phenomenal.
- Be part of the Facebook group ( there are so many tips and it’s very motivating).
- If you have a bad day start back on track the next day – 80% consistency gets you there.
Why should people enter the challenge?
It’s an awesome community. The Challenge sets a time frame that is short enough to reach goals and stay focused. The vault has very valuable tips and information.
