  • Outside of the official challenge 439  joined the Sleekgeek Community Leaderboard to win prizes.

  • 3,544 593 hours were run!

Well done to everyone who logged their time and kilometres! Thank you for contributing!

As token of our appreciation for racking up those hours, we have randomly selected one Sleek from our Sleekgeek Leaderboard to win a R5,000 adidas running hamper.

🥳 Congratulations Estelle Whitby!

What next?

Even though Run for the Oceans has ‘run it’s course’ 🥁😜 we still have a responsibility to our oceans and enviroment to do as much as we can to end plastic waste.

Did you know?

  • Each year at least 8 million tons of plastic enters the ocean.
  • The equivalent of 1 garbage truck of plastic is dumped in our oceans every minute.
  • Every day the equivalent of 1,440 dump trucks of plastic waste enters our oceans.
  • For every person on the planet, there is the equivalent of 500kg of plastic.
  • Nearly 700 species including whales, fish & seabirds have been found with plastic inside them.

What can you do?

  • Avoid takeout and home delivery meals – these come with a lot of plastic.
  • Ditch liquid body wash in bottles and go for soap bars with minimal packaging.
  • Choose a natural plant fiber dish brush over a plastic sponge so you prevent microplastics from going down the drain.
  • Invest in reusable produce and shopping bags. Take them with you when you leave the house.
  • Eat locally sourced produce. Farmers markets are always a great weekend outing.

Remember small changes can make a huge impact! Let’s keep this momentum going 🏃🏾‍♀️
