Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
About 6 years ago I was tying my shoes one morning and was out of breath after, I decided that MAYBE I should go to the gym as I am too fat and would like to slim down. Gym didn’t work all that well as it was boring and I was alone, with no one to motivate me. I then decided to join a CrossFit box in Bela Bela and this is where it all started. It took me about 6 months but I lost 30kg. I was happy and even had a 6 pack to show for it. After this eating started to get too lekker again, and as you all know you can’t out-train a bad diet, so I picked up weight again. Before the challenge, I was almost back to where I was 6 years ago, and I decided, screw this, I need to do something, and that is when I came across Sleekgeek.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
As I was coming closer to where my weight was 6 years ago I decided again that I really need to make an effort to lose weight. I decided to enter the challenge and also succeeded in twisting my girlfriend’s arm to enter with me. This made a huge difference and her support and “slaps back into line”, helped a great deal and was even more motivating than doing it alone. I know there are huge prizes in this challenge and it gives you, even more, to work for.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
We started off by doing banting, then went over to intermittent fasting combined with banting within the first 2 weeks the weight didn’t change much. During the next 3 weeks things went very well and we were very disciplined, then we started stagnating, and a friend suggested we try his fasting idea, so we did. fasted a few days and only ate the rest of the week (still clean, proper, and healthy) although we now had a cheat day included which gave us something to look forward to every week.

Still being part of the CrossFit community, we just followed our normal routine and joined CrossFit classes 5 days a week.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Stick it out for 8 weeks it is REALLY worth it.
- If you fall off the wagon, don’t stress, just start again and push through.
- Don’t pressure yourself too much, and listen to your body.
Why should people enter the challenge?
The challenge brings together like-minded people, you have a large support system within your WhatsApp groups and there is a ton of helpful info inside the Sleekgeek vault that is priceless.
