Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I am an active mother and also work for myself so I don’t have time to exercise and prep 6 meals a day etc. I have mostly followed the banting lifestyle before the challenge as a rule in my life, I am not a starch or sugary eater so I was all happy. Then I got bored and frustrated and started getting up at 4am to join the CrossFit class with my boyfriend.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
My boyfriend desperately wanted to lose weight and seeing as he got me to the CrossFit gym, he twisted my arm to join him in the challenge. He explained everything and showed me how it works, and even showed me the couples challenge and all the prizes. I entered to help and support him, and as we went along, I found myself losing more and more weight and woke up happier every day!
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
We started off by doing banting, then went over to intermittent fasting combined with banting as within the first 2 weeks the weight didn’t change much. During the next 3 weeks things went very well and we were very disciplined, then we started stagnating, and a friend suggested we try his fasting idea, so we did. fasted a few days and only ate the rest of the week (Still clean, and healthy) although we now had a cheat day included which gave us something to look forward to every week.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
We were part of the CrossFit community and just kept going to the classes 5 days a week and following the routine of the class
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Have a plan and stick to it
- If you make mistakes, forgive yourself and move on, it’s not a train smash
- It’s okay to cheat sometimes
Why should people enter the challenge?
The challenge is a great way to force/motivate yourself to start your journey and the prizes are a great goal to keep you going.
