Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
I was a provincial rugby player and for many years a member of the National Karate team. Then, after an accident, I was diagnosed with CRPS. For the last 3 years, I have given up on myself. From one diagnosis to the other, I’m living in chronic, debilitating pain.
What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?
A friend has sent me the link to the challenge. I realized that I am more than my condition or diagnosis. With my own journey, I will try and inspire others.
Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.
I was part of the Team Challenge during my Sleekgeek 8-week challenge. I received a lot of ideas and advice on what changes I should make along the journey regarding my nutrition.
Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.
I was part of the Team Challenge during my Sleekgeek 8-week challenge. There were weekly “roadblocks” that had to be done as part of the team challenge. The roadblocks were a great stepping stone to get my training in the right direction.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Invest more time in yourself and your health.
- Drink plenty of water – that is a good start.
- Something I learned from my Sleekgeek journey – eat till you are 80% full.
Why should people enter the challenge?
It is a great stepping stone to become a better version of yourself. The inspiration and motivation you get from the Sleekgeek community is just amazing.
