Give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.
Before the challenge, I was actually very active, but as life started to drain me and tuff times got the best of me I fell off the wagon for a few months as I went through a really tough time, but still, that is no excuse. I was so depressed at the time and when I looked in the mirror it felt like I wanted to sink into the ground. So in short, I was active but fell off the wagon.
What prompted you to join the 8-Week Challenge?
When my personal issues started to affect my family, as I am a father of a beautiful daughter and husband to one amazing wife, I realized that I need to make some changes. If one feels good about yourself you feel like you can conquer the world and that is what I was looking for and I think with the type of work and pressure I need to have some time out for myself to get focus and some sort of release.
Quick overview of nutrition and eating plan followed during the challenge.
I followed a low carb diet eating 5 times a day.
Breakfast: Eggs and oats with whey protein
Rest of the day: freshly packed stir-fry with chicken, half avocado
Snacks were just whey protein and casein before bed
Drank 4ltr water every day, stayed away from alcohol
A quick overview of training and exercise followed during the challenge
My training consists mostly of lifting weights in the gym, doing one muscle group per day or per gym session, and also 20 minutes of cardio Monday – Friday. Saturdays normally go for a walk with the family and the rest of the time is just for resting.
If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?
- Plan your meals ahead, it makes everything so much easier.
- Join a team, believe me, the motivation is great and the key is to surround yourself with people that are on the same journey.
- Just be yourself through the journey and appreciated small progress. Any progress is better than what you are used to.
