Make it easy

If you want to change something in your life one of the most effective ways is to make it easier. 

Success breeds success. The beauty is that you do not have to have a massive win to feel like a winner and build on that. 

Even small wins will inspire you to do more. 

Are you constantly trying to do hard things and failing miserably? Setting goals that are not reasonable and beating yourself up about not achieving them? If so maybe you do not suck, maybe your approach has just been wrong? 

So whenever you are struggling try to make it smaller and doable. So small that you cannot fail. 

For example: If your goal is to run 5km you can:

  1. Acquire new skills – eg: Hire a coach (Easy)
  2. Find a tool or resource –  eg: Download a 5km training app (Easier)
  3. Scale it down – eg: Simply put on your shoes, get out the door and run for 2-5 mins. (Easiest) 

People require very high levels of motivation to do hard things. Motivation is unreliable, fleeting and in short supply. 


All you have to do is take the first step. Simplicity changes behavior.
