YOUR TRANSFORMATION

Describe the “old you” before you made your transformation. How
did you get there and what were you like?

Shy, always something to eat, and not wearing girly clothes.

What ignited your initial motivation to change?

I went on a holiday for the first time in 9 years and wanted to look good for that.

What are some of the things that the new you does differently
now?

Walk with confidence, always smile, enjoy food, know the values of food.

What are some of the things that the new you still struggles with?

Accepting myself. I still see the big fat, obese Juanique.

If you could give yourself 1 piece of advice to help with that
struggle, what would it be?

Just look at the size of your clothes now. You are not the same.

Did you plateau, get stuck, or get disillusioned, or even slide
backwards a bit on your journey?

Off course, it’s human.

What is better since you got healthy?

Life overall.

TRAINING

What’s your favourite form of exercise? [Running, yoga,
weightlifting, etc]

Rebounding and weights, also dancing.

How long have you been training and how did you get started?

Almost 7 years. I started with 10 sit-up and push-ups a day, and increased it weekly.

What does your typical workout look like?

Currently rebounding for 30 to 55 mins.

Favorite exercise? [Distance / pose / movement / etc]

Deadlifts

Least favorite exercise? [Distance / pose / movement / etc]

Burpees

How does exercise make you feel?

Sometimes exhausted, other times full of energy, mostly great and proud.

Do you prefer to train alone or with others? Why?

Alone, people distract me as I love to talk.

Most embarrassing training moment?

My pants got torn and I didn’t notice until I did squats.

Top 3 things you must have at the gym or in your gym bag?

To reach a level of being proud, more of a weight goal.

I lost body fat, my skin looks better, I am more adventurous and willing to do hikes etc.

My homemade lemon chicken breasts.

Not sure.

Potatoes.

Don’t really have one.

How many meals a day do you eat?

Do you have a cheat meal / treat strategy?

Yes, I normally do one a week, I’ve noticed that I then loose more.

MINDSET

you maybe never imagined you could do?

Lose 10kg.

One day or day one.

I don’t read.

What inspires and motivates you?

My future. I want to someday be a healthy wife and mother.

For what are you most grateful?

That I had my mom to help me through this journey and save my life.

What do you want to say to other community members who might
be nervous or hesitant to make a start?

Just do it. If you don’t try, you’ll never know. All you can lose is some pounds.

What are your top 5 tips for anyone starting on a healthy journey?

  1. Make sure your mind is in it
  2. Get rid of any temptations, sweets, etc.
  3. Do research. You can get a lot of healthy foods and ideas. Just look for them.
  4. Make sure the people in your household will help and motivate you.
  5. Set out small goals. Don’t go too big.
