💪 8-Week Body Transformation Challenge! 🥗

I did it!

My results for the Winter Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge

I flattened my curves and lost the lockdown load!

I sent out an email in May letting the community know that I was going to commit to making change and undo the damage of lockdown level 5 using the Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge as my weapon. So today I really wanted to update you.

The Challenge came at a perfect time. I overate during level 5 lockdown and weighed in at 86kgs to start my challenge.

I felt like I had let myself down and ignored my priorities for a few weeks in a bad way and it was time for a change. My life’s mission is to be healthy and lead by example so I wanted to get back to that.

At the start of the challenge in June I posted in our Challenge group my goals as follows:

“I weighed in at 86.3 yesterday.

My goal over the 8 weeks is to get to 80kgs and rebuild some of the upper body muscle I have lost.

I also aim to run 21km. I was training for 2 Oceans, got to 14km and then the event was cancelled.”

My results

🎯  Weight: I ended up weighing 80.7 this morning to end my challenge. That’s a record and milestone. It’s the first time I’ve seen 80 on a scale since being a teenager.

Before this challenge my previous lowest weight was 82.9 – so I’ve broken those boundaries and left them far behind. I lost 5.6kgs. At my starting weight that’s not easy. Not being able to exercise I had to focus hard on my nutrition.

Goal achieved ✅

🎯  Muscle: I wanted to regain some muscle but I’ve been plagued with a cold for 4 weeks now and was only able to train for the first 4 weeks out of the 8 where I focussed my attention on my running. I also think I did not eat enough protein.

Not achieved ❌

🎯   Run 21km: My running was going well and I was on track until I got sick again. In the first 4 weeks I worked myself back up to 12km and I also ran my fastest 5km by a long shot smashing my personal best 27min27sec . I was proud of that. Sadly being sick messed up my chances of reaching this goal.

Not achieved ❌

Overall I’m happy and proud of my results under the circumstances. It’s a pity I was not well but I made the most of it and pushed hard to lose weight despite not exercising.

What’s next?

I’m looking forward to the Summer Challenge in September for my next set of goals to achieve.

My focus will be to work on rebuilding muscle and getting back to peak fitness with my running.
