💪 8-Week Body Transformation Challenge! 🥗

New Year 8-Week Challenge Winner Testimonial – Beza Firdu

Here’s a quick catch up with Beza Firdu, who came FIRST in the women’s weightloss category in the New Year Sleekgeek 8-Week Challenge (lost 22.77%).

Before I started the Sleekgeek 8-Week challenge, I had gone through some rough life experiences and the only way I thought I could cope with the anxiety and depression of my struggles was binge eating. Before I knew it I had gained 20kgs and my personal relationships had started suffering. I started avoiding my family and friends and kept all my emotions bottled up inside.

I knew this was not meant to be my life. I was better than this, I was destined for more. I had been part of the Sleekgeek community since 2017 and had seen all the transformation over the years. One day I decided this would be it. Getting a hold of my health would help me get the other parts of my life straight. I entered the New Years challenge thinking, new year, new me. I doubted myself through the whole challenge but I knew I couldn’t give up. The support and encouragement from the Sleekgeek group helped me complete my first challenge.

When I entered my second challenge, I knew I had to focus more on nutrition and building healthy eating habits. I dealt with my binge eating by substituting it with meditation. Instead of reaching for food when I got anxious, I rather opted to do a 10 minute meditation session. I did a low carb, high protein, moderate fat eating plan. It helped cut off the unwanted weight.

I use to love going to the gym or running on the promenade but since the lockdown, that became impossible so I opted to do home workouts. I followed the Shaun T training program for the duration of the program. But I want to start incorporating more weight training workouts for the next challenge.

My advice would be to join a group or have some type of support system otherwise regularly checking on the Sleekgeek Facebook group for motivation. Plan ahead for your meals and workouts so you stay on top of things. And keep taking lots of progress pictures to see how far you have come.

People should enter the Sleekgeek 8-week challenge because it will give them direction on where to start and the appropriate resources to achieve their goals. The community is always there for support even when we fail which is so critical. I would highly recommend it.
