Zikona Cebisa loses 35kgs and loves her new body

Hello Sleekgeek family

My name is Zikona Cebisa. I am 32 years old, live in Port Elizabeth and I have been overweight from childhood. I used to be called “fatty” in primary school and I was the biggest among my classmates. That didn’t worry me at all and I participated in sport activities just like other kids. I enjoyed playing sports even though I would get very tired because of the weight.

In high school I was wearing a size 36 and 38 and was still the biggest in class and people didn’t believe my age when I was telling them because I looked older than my peers. That still did not worry me because I knew that I’ve been big from childhood and was used it.

In 2003 when I was 17 years old I fell pregnant and gave birth in 2004. I gained a lot weight and that is when I first attempted to lose weight. I tried by my making changes to portion sizes and exercising at home but that failed and told myself “you know what I was born like this I am not going to change myself”.

2008 I started working and I was weighing 105 kgs and that did not bother me at all. The the relationship that I had with food was very bad and was only eating starchy foods, drinking fizzy drinks, sweet things was my worst, always snacking on biscuits, chips and of course snacking on bread.

I ate a lot when I was hurt or stressed would turn to food to comfort me and feel better. By 2015 I weighed 125kgs and was wearing size 44-46 at 29 years old. I would struggle finding clothes to wear that suited my age and had to wear old people’s clothes and looked very ugly.

I didn’t know where to start and what to do. I tried diet pills, slimming teas and that didn’t help because I was still eating the wrong foods and not exercising so that attempt failed again.

Enter Sleekgeek 

In March 2017 I was introduced to Sleekgeek by a friend of mine and she said just follow the Sleekgeek Facebook Group and then you decide if you can make it, she knew that I have always wanted to lose weight but did not know what to do, I started with the Sleekgeek 30 day Reboot Challenge the same month with a starting weight of 123 kg. I also decided to join the gym. It was very hard when I started because I had to stop eating foods that I love and had to go the gym while finding it hard to run on the treadmill and do exercises. I  would fall so many times and not finish the 30 days but did not stop pushing until I finished. I then decided to make it a lifestyle.

Going through ​Sleekgeek website I then found nutrition guide and decided to used it for my meals. I cut out simple carbs, sugar, fizzy drinks, fruit juices from my diet and stopped drinking alcohol.

Going to the gym Monday to Friday I had a lot of support from my personal trainer Spha. She made sure that she spent an hour with me helping with the exercises good for weight loss.

My breakfast was often a smoothie made from veggies and one fruit and some protein on the side. Lunch would be cooked vegetables or salad and some proteins and supper would be the same or something else that I decide on using the Sleekgeek food list and drink 2 litres of water a day.

So far I have lost 35kgs and currently weighing 88kgs.  My goal weight is 80kgs and to then start maintaining.

My tips to weight loss are:

  • Dedication
  • Hard work
  • Positive attitude
  • Exercise
  • Keep it simple
  • Know your WHY and set your mind set to it that way you will succeed and not give up.

I am so grateful for Sleekgeek community would not have done it without  you! Now I am the happiest person and will continue to be healthy and fit.
