💪 8-Week Body Transformation Challenge! 🥗

MOVEMENT HABIT

Parkrun/walk

Not just for runners.

RECOMMENDATION:

1 per week.

WHAT:

This habit is about getting active every weekend by participating in a parkrun on a Saturday.

WHY:

Finding ways to get active on the weekend is a great habit to get into.

One of the simplest, free events that most major towns in South Africa have is called parkrun.

parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning at more than 200 locations around South Africa

HOW:

You can register for a parkrun account here – you’ll receive a personal barcode to print out and bring to each event so that you can scan in at the end to track your time and attendance.

Don’t forget to join the Sleekgeek Club on parkrun here (or log into your account, select Groups from the menu, and then search for “Sleekgeek”).

Keep in mind that despite the names, most people actually WALK parkruns, so don’t feel intimidated if you aren’t a runner.

TIPS:

✅ Start Small: If you’re new to running or even walking long distances, don’t stress. The idea is to participate, not to win. Your only competition is you. Most people actually walk these events.

✅ Accountability Partner: Find a friend or family member to go with you. The social commitment makes it more likely you’ll stick to the habit.

✅ Visibility: Put your barcode or timing band in a place where you can easily see it as a visual reminder.
