Each day for 8 weeks we’re going to help you think, eat, move, or sleep better.

This is what you need to do in order to successfully complete today’s challenge mission.

Think about when you wake up in the morning.

Do you open your eye and you’re immediately ready to jump straight into your day?

We’re guessing that the answer is no…

You likely have a few things that you do fairly routinely in the morning to help you wake up and ease into your day.

Just like how you can’t go from 0 to 100 first thing in the morning, you can’t do the reverse and go from 100 to 0 last thing at night either.

Your body and mind need time to wind down and de-stress, making a slow transition from being super busy and alert to being more calm and relaxed.

This is why creating some kind of sleep ritual or routine is incredibly useful to helping you prepare for a good night sleep.

We’ve already sneakily covered some common elements of a sleep ritual, such as setting a shutdown bedtime alarm, doing a brain dump, avoiding electronic screens 2 hours before bed, doing 10 minutes of meditation, and taking a bath or shower in the evening.

If any of those worked really well for you, make sure that you build them into your sleep ritual.

Otherwise, look for other things that you can do consistently every night as a “signal” or “cue” that lets your body know that it’s time to unwind and get ready for bed.

Some additional ideas might include:

  • Drinking some tea
  • Reading a book
  • Listening to relaxing music
  • Journaling
  • Do some gentle stretching or deep breathing
  • Stick to a consistent bedtime.
