Self-Care Challenge Day 5: Change your routine

? Hello and welcome to Day 5 of the 21-Day Self-Care Challenge.

? Each day for 21 days we give you an action to complete that will help you to take care of yourself so that you can better take care of the other aspects of your life effectively.

Each of our tasks focuses on either physical, mental or emotional self-care.

You can either follow the tasks as specified or individualize them.

We suggest scheduling off some self-care time in your diary each night so that you keep your meeting with yourself.

Day 5

Today we are going to focus on mental self-care. 

Take another route to work, or do a routine differently.

A mental workout

Not only does this encourage you to pay more attention and be more present whilst performing a “mundane” task but it also helps you build new neural pathways for your brain.

Essentially you are giving your brain a workout!

Most of the activity we do, we do on autopilot. Our brains have become so accustomed to the task that the novelty has worn off and it becomes second nature, freeing itself up to focus on more demanding things.

Unfortunately, the majority of the activities we do, are mundane. The stuff that doesn’t require much thinking, the stuff that doesn’t challenge us.

Today we want you to open up to new experiences, –  try a new route to work or brush your teeth with your opposite hand.
