Movement Challenge Day 10 – Loosen Up Your Hips

🎯 Today’s Mission:

To successfully complete today’s mission:

  • ✅ Pick 2 stretches from the list to loosen up your tight hips and give them a try.
  • In your Movement Journal, note down any other stretches you’d like to try in the future and when you might schedule them into your day.
  • Complete the form at the bottom of the page when done.

💡 More Info:

Most of us live in a very sedentary world that involves a lot of sitting.

Sitting at the table, sitting in the car, sitting at work, sitting on the couch, and sitting almost every chance that we get when out and about…

If this sounds like you, then you most likely have tight and weak hip flexors that may limit your mobility, give you poor posture, or even cause you various amounts of pain and discomfort.

Ideally, we should address our daily lifestyles so that we are sitting less and moving more – which is why so much of this challenge focuses on getting you to move more in general.

However, there are also a number of simple exercises that we can do on a frequent or even daily basis to loosen up our hips, strengthen our hip flexors, and undo some of the damage of sitting.

Healthline have a great list of exercises to try: 7 Stretches to Relieve Tight Hips.

Our personal favourites from their list are:

#2 The Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch (or Couch Stretch)

#3 Pigeon Pose

Be sure to check out the rest of their article for some other stretches worth doing.
