In our fast-paced modern world, we’re used to things happening quickly.

On-demand entertainment, instant access to information, same-day deliveries, convenient and efficient services…

We’re “quickaholics”, if you will.

And so, it can be rather frustrating that things like weight loss, fitness, and health improvements can take so much longer than we want them to.

Most people give up when they get frustrated with slow results…

But we’ve got a little mindset hack for you to channel that frustration into something more productive.

🚀 Instant Action

We want to challenge you to refocus on “instant actions” instead.

Use your desire for instant results as a cue to look around for instant actions that you can take now, today, and tomorrow to move forward toward those results that you want.

For example, last year I was taking dancing classes and every time I caught myself feeling frustrated that I wasn’t as good a dancer as I wanted to be yet, I’d get up and do 10-15 minutes of drills and footwork.

Actions ALWAYS come BEFORE results. You have to put in the work.

The more you can train yourself to focus on taking action, the better and more consistent your results will be.

These actions could be as big as doing a full workout or eating a super healthy meal, or they might be a smaller part of the bigger picture, such as planning your meals ahead of time, scheduling time in your calendar for your workouts, getting some steps in, or setting a “go to bed early” reminder alarm.

Break the results that you want down into actions and behaviours that you need to do frequently and repeatedly to achieve them.

Doing these kinds of actions, especially when you’re feeling frustrated and stuck, will help you feel more productive and reassured that you’re doing everything you can to be on the right track.

Actions lead to results over time.

🔂 Get 1% Better

Look, we’re going to be real with you… Change can be hard sometimes.

And it certainly doesn’t happen overnight.

However, you can START changing overnight.

In fact, we can choose to start changing immediately through our mindset and daily actions.

This is where the “1% Rule” comes to the rescue.

The 1% Rule makes the transition between who you are and who you want to be more doable.

The way it works is you pretend that every time you do something, you become 1% more of that kind of person.

  • Every time you drink a glass of wine, you become 1% more of a wine drinker.
  • Every time you choose not to drink wine, you become 1% less of a wine drinker.
  • Every time you go to the gym, you become 1% more of a gym-goer.
  • Every time you skip the gym, you become 1% more of a gym-skipper.
  • Every time you get angry, you become 1% more of an angry person.
  • Every time you choose to calm down, you become 1% more of a calmer person.
  • Every time you plan ahead, you become 1% more prepared.
  • Every time you fail to plan ahead, you become 1% less prepared.

Close the gap between who you are and who you want to be by getting 1% better.

As Jim Rohn once said, “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgement, repeated every day.

So any time you catch yourself wishing for quicker results, refocus on increasing the urgency and drive behind your actions. Less wishing for it and more working for it.
