💡 More Info:

The beliefs that we have about ourselves and the world around us are mostly just stories that we tell ourselves over and over and over again.

But, they still shape our sense of reality – for better or for worse.

Previously we spoke about how harmful limiting beliefs can be. If limiting beliefs can hold us back so much, imagine how powerful the right collection of positive beliefs could be?

The Sleekgeek 💡 Belief System

At Sleekgeek we believe that choosing the right beliefs is a game-changer.

To get the most out of life, you need an empowering belief system. A collection of beliefs that serve you well and move you forward toward your goals.

Below are the 25 beliefs in the Sleekgeek Belief System (we also have a podcast episode associated with most of them if you want to dive in deeper):

1) 🌍 Design your environment

  • Your environment sets you up for success or failure by default.
  • If you keep lots of healthy food in your house, you’re more likely to eat lots of healthy food.
  • If you keep lots of junk food in your house, you’re more likely to eat lots of junk food.

2) 😍 Life is better when you’re healthy

  • When you are healthy every aspect of your life improves.
  • Health and fitness can be hard, but poor health makes EVERYTHING in life so much harder.

3) 💪 Be your own hero

  • No one is coming to save you.
  • It’s up to you to take charge and make things happen, no one will do it for you.

4) ⚓ Let health be your anchor

  • When life gets tough, it’s even more important to renew your commitment and invest in your health.
  • Life is never only calm waters and smooth sailing, you need powerful anchors to help you weather the storms.

5) 🔁 Health is a habit

  • You are what you repeatedly do.
  • Most naturally fit and healthy people don’t follow plans, they have habits that they repeat day in and day out.
  • Make health and fitness a long-term priority by building long-term habits into your daily life.

6) ⛹️ Bounce back quickly

  • Everyone makes mistakes, it’s important to bounce back quickly when you do.
  • Winners get back on track ASAP. They don’t let a bad day turn into a bad week, month, or year.
  • You’re only one healthy meal or one workout away from getting back on track.

7) 🔎 Your actions express your priorities

  • Words are cheap.
  • It doesn’t matter what you say or believe are your priorities, your actions tell the truth.
  • Every day you must PROVE with your actions what your priorities are.

8) 🥛 You can’t pour from an empty cup

  • To give others your best, you need to take care of yourself first.
  • It may seem selfish, but if you don’t look after yourself then you can’t be the best version of yourself that others need you to be.

9) 🚀 Have a growth mindset

  • You have to believe that you CAN improve with enough practice and effort.
  • You are not stuck, you are not in a fixed place, you can grow and learn and improve.

10) 🎯 Commitment beats motivation

  • Motivation is fleeting. It comes and goes over time. But commitment is reliable.
  • Don’t only do what you need to do when you’re feeling motivated, stick to your commitments and get it done.
  • Taking action doesn’t have to be a negotiation or debate every time you don’t feel motivated.

11) 🔥 Motivation is optional

  • You don’t have to be motivated to do something.
  • Very often simply getting started, even when you don’t feel like it, makes you feel more motivated.

12) 🏠 Health opens new doors

  • Getting healthy leads to new opportunities and experiences.
  • Lack of health closes a LOT of doors.
  • To get the most out of life, you need to make health a priority.

13) ☀️ Focus on a bright future

  • You’re either running towards pleasure/rewards or running away from pain/fear.
  • Choose to focus on a bright future for yourself that motivates you and gets you excited about what life has to offer.

14) ☕ You are who you have coffee with

  • The people who you surround yourself with shape your life.
  • To be successful and build healthy habits, you need to spend more time around those who you want to be more like.
  • Similarly, you need to spend less time around those who drag you down and make you worse.

15) 🏄 Progress requires practice

  • If you want to get better, you need to practice over and over again.
  • It’s usually hard in the beginning, but it gets easier with practice.
  • If you’re struggling right now, then you just aren’t good enough YET – keep practicing!

16) 🤔 You are who you think you are

  • The labels that we give ourselves and the identity that we wear have a huge influence on our confidence to do things.
  • Decide the type of person you want to be and prove it to yourself with actions.
  • Even if you aren’t that person yet, you can become 1% more that kind of person each day through taking consistent action.

17) 🙅‍♀️ The debate doesn’t matter

  • Your excuses are valid, but so are the consequences. All that matters is the end result.
  • Don’t give in to your excuses, no matter how valid, because all you win is no results.
  • Find a way to be stronger than your excuses and “win” the debate about why you can or can’t do something.

18) 📚 No failure, only lessons

  • Every setback is an opportunity to learn and get better.
  • The only failure is if you never truly learn from your mistakes.

19) 🕵️‍♂️ There’s always a solution

  • When you believe there is always a solution, you will make the effort to look for it.
  • If you don’t believe it’s possible, you won’t try hard enough.

20) ❌ Quitting is not an option

  • When you quit on your health, you quit on yourself.
  • Giving up and quitting is just not an option, so keep on fighting.

21) 🏁 Getting started is the most important part

  • You can learn and plan and wait for the right time, but if you don’t actually start then it’s all a waste.
  • Get started sooner rather than later and figure it out as you go.
  • Start small and scale up from there.

22) 👍 Be less “all-or-nothing”

  • Trying to be perfect is the enemy of progress because nobody is perfect and it often results in failure.
  • Consistency beats perfection, so try to be less “all-or-nothing” and more “always something”.

23) 🏆 Focus on BIG wins

  • Don’t mow the lawn while the house is on fire, focus on the most important things first.
  • Spend more time focusing on the 20% of actions that will get you 80% of the results.

24) 📅 Your schedule doesn’t lie

  • The things you schedule are your priorities.
  • If it’s truly important, find a way to make sure that it happens.
  • If you “forget” or “don’t have time” then it’s simply not a priority.

25) 💰 Health is the real wealth

  • Without your health, you have nothing.
  • It’s good to chase different goals throughout life, but don’t sacrifice your health to achieve them.

🔁 Repetition Matters

The things that you repeat to yourself, day in and day out, are important.

  • Repeating 👎 limiting beliefs and 🤬 hateful thoughts can be destructive and debilitating.
  • Repeating 👍 positive beliefs and 🤩 beneficial thoughts can be empowering and enabling.

You’ll notice that the Sleekgeek Belief System is NOT a collection of mantras. We aren’t telling you to “manifest” your health or think your way to success.

The purpose of the Sleekgeek Belief System is to help you to FOCUS on empowering and enabling thoughts that will serve you and your goals. We want you to spend more time thinking about ideas and concepts that make your life better and help you to make better decisions.

Let’s examine a few examples

1) 🌍 Design your environment:

  • ❌ If you believe that you have no willpower and can’t stop eating chocolate, you’re going to struggle.
  • ✅ If you believe that you can design your environment and simply not keep chocolate in the house, you won’t need the willpower to begin with.
  • 🏆 With this belief you’ll be solution-orientated and aware of your surroundings.

5) 🔁 Health is a habit:

  • ❌ If you believe that health is purely an “outcome” or something that only some people have, you’ll spend a lot of time wishing and hoping for it too. And if you do have it, you might take it for granted.
  • ✅ If you believe that health is a habit that you can build and earn with action, you’ll spend a lot more time working for it and taking daily action. And if you do have it, you will continue to work to maintain it.
  • 🏆 With this belief, you’ll be more likely to take consistent and repetitive positive action.

11) 🔥 Motivation is optional:

  • ❌ If you believe that you need to be motivated in order to take action, you’ll find yourself being very inconsistent and your results will depend on the fleetingness of your emotions.
  • ✅ If you believe that you DON’T need to be motivated in order to take action, you’ll find yourself being much more consistent and your results will only depend on your willingness to be a bit uncomfortable at times.
  • 🏆 With this belief, you’ll be more likely to do the work even when you don’t feel like it.

14) ☕ You are who you have coffee with:

  • ❌ If you believe that your friends and social circle don’t matter, you’ll spend a lot more time around unproductive, unmotivated, and even toxic people who make your life worse and hold you back. Or you might not make an effort to have any friends at all.
  • ✅ If you believe that your friends and social circle matters critically, you’ll make an effort to seek out like-minded, motivated, and successful people who will raise you up with them.
  • 🏆 With this belief, you’ll end up with more positive and less negative people in your life.

15) 👍 Be less “all-or-nothing”:

  • ❌ If you believe that things have to be done “perfectly” or there’s no point at all, you’re going to spend a lot of time struggling to be consistent with your nutrition and exercise because life is messy and it never goes 100% according to plan.
  • ✅ If you believe that you just have to do your best and aim for “good enough”, you’re going to be a lot more consistent with your nutrition and exercise because you’ll find ways to adapt and course-correct.
  • 🏆 With this belief, you’ll spend less time starting and stopping and restarting all the time, and more time being consistent and doing things well enough to make progress.
