Hey guys!
Today I want to talk to you about the powerful concept of
Being in motion vs Taking action.
I think this video is going to make you really think.
The truth is that when you set out to achieve something, there is often a lot of inaction involved.
Very often this is a necessary part of the process, but you still have to take that next step.
You still have to take action. And this is where many people get stuck.
According to one of the guru we love at SG HQ James Clear –
“Motion is when you’re busy doing something, but that task will never produce the outcome that you want by itself.
Action, on the other hand, is the type of behaviour that will get you the result.”
So a BIG MISTAKE most people make is to confuse being in motion with taking action.
Don’t get stuck going around and around.
To help you understand exactly what we mean here are a few tangible examples.
Searching high and low for the perfect diet plan to follow is MOTION
Eating a healthy meal is ACTION
Carefully planning what days to go to gym on IS MOTION
Doing a gym workout IS ACTION
Waking up tired and committing to going to sleep earlier is MOTION
Going to bed earlier and getting a decent night’s sleep is ACTION
Creating a budget… Seeking relationship advice… Writing down a business plan… is MOTION
Saving money… Improving your relationship… Launching your business is ACTION.
We see a SO MANY people in Sleekgeek getting these two mixed up.
In fact, there is a meme out there that describes someone as an “Askhole”.
“A person who constantly asks for your advice, but always does the opposite of what you tell them.”
We know, it’s all part of the process… But:
Most people take too long to get to the point of taking action.
Way too many people never even take any action at all.
If you need to be in motion for a little bit, that’s OK, but don’t forget to take action! Winners are born from their actions.
A great tip to start taking action is to always know what the next step is.
That will keep the momentum going.
For example: You want to eat a healthy meal for dinner?
What is the next step? Buy the food and have it in your fridge?
And then?
Take it out and make sure it is defrosted.
And then …… cook it and eat it…
A simple example. But the key is to be trying to take the next step away from motion into action.
Eating the healthy meal in the end is the real action after the original intention to eat a healthy meal for dinner.
YOUR ACTION
Identify an area in your life where you are in motion right now.
Write down the next action that you need to take
Keep doing that until you have taken the action you need to produce the result.
