Day 10 [Nutrition] SG NY Kickstart Challenge – Create Go-To Meals


Welcome to day 10!

So this is going to be a super short video from me for a change, because I really want to hammer in this key strategy for success.

And that’s you need to have go-to meals!

So what do I mean by that?

Go-to meals are simple healthy meals that you can rely on. Like, meals that you will make if you don’t know what else to eat or if you just need something quick and easy. Life can get messy and we don’t always have the time or energy to try new meals or make super fancy ones.

Let’s say you plan to try a new recipe on Monday night, but end up running out of time. What do you do? Do you immediately reach for the phone to order a pizza delivery? Or do you immediately reach for the simple ingredients that you always have on hand that you can use to put together a quick, easy, and healthy meal?

For breakfast, one of my go-to meals is a homemade protein smoothie. I’ll chuck a scoop of chocolate protein powder, some water, a banana, a tablespoon of peanut butter, a handful or two of spinach, and some ice into my NUTRiBULLET and I’ll blend up a healthy, well-balanced protein smoothie for myself. Breakfast sorted in under 5 minutes!

For lunch, one of my go-to meals is a tin of tuna, some avocado, gherkins, and a bell pepper all chopped up and mashed together. I’ll grab an apple and maybe a few more carrots on the side to help fill me up and balance out the meal. Lunch sorted in under 5 minutes!

For dinner, one of my go-to meals is a left-over mind and rice along with some frozen peas and corn microwaved plus some salted peanuts or almonds for dessert. Dinner sorted in under 5 minutes!

I have several of these kind of go-to meals that I enjoy, and I make an effort to ALWAYS have the ingredients for at least a few of them available at all times.

What I want you to do today is sit down and write out 2-3 go-to meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

They should be super simple and easy to make, but also check as many of the boxes as possible in terms of the Sleekgeek Food List, the Healthy Meal Template, and the Portion Control Guidelines.
