 BRAIN CHEMISTRY AND PERFORMANCE

Success in exercise and healthy living is measured in years.  It is not about quick fix solutions or overnight transformations, it is a lifelong process of on-going change and commitment to an active lifestyle and healthy choices.  This may sound daunting, but the rewards are beyond measure!

The question arises:  How is it that some people (a relative minority) are able to make this commitment while others tend to fall off the wagon?  A large part of the puzzle is found in the brain chemistry.

  • Why do I start an exercise and eating plan, only to fall off the wagon three months down the road?

  • Why do I lose motivation?

  • Why does the thought of exercising make me anxious?

  • How should I structure my exercise and eating plan for me?

Brain Chemistry is a major determinant of behaviour, including our thoughts, emotions and actions.  Through targeted exercise, nutritional and lifestyle changes, we can bring our brain chemistry into balance, thereby exercising full control over our behaviour.

The talk will

  • Give you insight into your own brain chemistry (by means of a short 15 point questionnaire).
  • Give you insight into your own behaviour, (why you do, feel and think the way you do), and how exercise, diet and lifestyle changes can affect your behaviour.
  • Give you short term and long term strategies to maximise everyday performance.
  • Give you the tools to make long term compliance with exercise a reality!
  • A short exercise session will follow the talk.
