💡 More Info:
Yesterday on Day 1, we talked about how burnout happens when the demands in our lives consistently outweigh what we’re able to handle.
The sneaky thing about burnout is that it usually creeps up on you, this is why yesterday’s quiz to identify different signs of burnout is so important.
The sooner you’re able to identify burnout, the sooner and better you can recover from it.
Today, we want to look at what the opposite of feeling burned out might look like so that you have something exciting to work towards.
🔥 Burnout vs ❇️ Deep Health
At Sleekgeek, we like to take a “whole-person, whole-life” approach to health.
We call this Deep Health.
It involves thriving in all dimensions of human experience because no single aspect of our health functions alone.
Our physical, mental, and emotional health interact with our social setting and environment, as well as our sense of purpose or existence in life.

As you can see, some examples of how burnout can show up in these areas of Deep Health are:
💃 Physical
- ❇️ Deep Health: Feeling vibrant, energised, and thriving. Performing and functioning well.
- 🔥 Burnout: Less energy and endurance; slow recovery; more pain; worse sleep.
😍 Emotional
- ❇️ Deep Health: Experiencing a full range of emotions; expressing and regulating them appropriately.
- 🔥 Burnout: Cynicism; emotional exhaustion; loss of idealism; difficulty expressing true emotions.
🌍 Environmental
- ❇️ Deep Health: Your everyday surroundings support your wellbeing.
- 🔥 Burnout: Reduced ability to deal with high-stress settings and surroundings; lack of care for your surrounding environment.
🧠 Mental
- ❇️ Deep Health: Alert, focused, competent, and thoughtful. Learning, remembering, and solving problems well.
- 🔥 Burnout: Feeling “spaced out”; poor focus; poor memory and recall; heightened sense of worry and anxiety.
🧘 Existential
- ❇️ Deep Health: Feeling a sense of meaning and “purpose” in life.
- 🔥 Burnout: Reduced sense of personal accomplishment, meaning, or purpose in life; feeling that nothing really matters.
👥 Social
- ❇️ Deep Health: Connected to and authentic with others in safe and secure relationships. Feeling supported and like you “belong”.
- 🔥 Burnout: Callousness towards others; relationship issues; feeling alone, alienated, or insecure.
It’s completely normal to not feel like you’re “thriving” in every single dimension of Deep Health, no one is perfect after all. But the more signs that you can identify, the more likely you are to be on the road to burnout.
