Please give us a short history of your journey to health and fitness before the challenge.

I used to be very skinny as a teenager and that all very quickly changed when I had my 1st child 5 years ago. After having kids I didn’t take care of my health or my body. I also noticed that I have become an emotional eater and I needed to make a big change. I made the decision to start my weightloss journey in May this year. I read up about Intermittent Fasting and started with that. I also started doing some basic exercises. I needed something to keep me motivated and came across Sleekgeek. I have lost a total of 13kg since I started on my journey in May.

What prompted you to join the Sleekgeek Transformation Challenge?

Even though I made the decision to start my weightloss journey, I needed motivation to keep going. I saw the R10k prize up for grabs and instantly joined the challenge. It was a no brainer!

Give us a quick overview of the nutrition and eating plan that you followed during the challenge.

I do intermittent fasting. Most days I do 18:6 and every now and then I do a 24 hour fast (which is not as hard as it sounds). I LOVE salads so this was my go to meal. I would just add a different protein to my salad with each meal. I found the 21 day Reboot EXTREMELY helpful and made healthier choices with each meal.

Give us a quick overview of the training and exercise plan that you followed during the challenge.

I started by doing a lot of cardio. I have an excersize bike and enjoy jogging. I slowly incorporated some resistance band workouts and then weights as well. I really enjoy doing full body kettlebell workouts. And pushed to do as many roadblocks as I could every day.

If you could give 3 pieces of advice to future challengers, what would they be?

  1. Don’t give up. Keep pushing, it’s so worth it
  2. Find a support system. Whether you do it with a friends or make new friends in the challenges, it helps you keep on track.
  3. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s a journey, pace yourself.

Why should people enter the challenge?

I would not have been able to come this far on my own. The entry fees are really nothing compared to the wealth of information, support and opportunities you will be exposed to in this challenge. I have learned so much about nutrition and making healthier food choices while doing this challenge. Seeing what other people have achieved was a massive motivation to me to keep pushing. The Team challenges also pushed me physically and being part of a team really gave me purpose. Can’t wait to start the next challenge.
