I am Kervin August, and this is my Story about Losing Weight.
It all began in June 2013, While on holiday in Cape Town. I was at 158kgs without realising how overweight I really was.
One day, I was playing with my godchild, and I just became extremely tired trying to run around with him and keep up with him.
I was always tired, and felt sleepy, had serious back pains and some days I’d feel sick.
I made a promise to myself that day, that I need to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle.
When I went back home to Johannesburg, the first thing I did was sign up at Virgin Active Gym.
At first it was so hard for me to force myself to gym. I started using Whey Protein and a Fat Burner, not realizing that my diet is the most important part of losing weight.
I was a guy that loved take aways, hot chips, bread, gas cooldrink and all the unhealthy foods you can imagine.
After the first 3 months, I saw very little change, I was disappointed, but I learned to push myself.
I would download motivational quotes and pictures to remind myself why I’m doing this, why I need to lose weight.
I started to eat healthy (see my diet in my eating plan section below) and I became more active, and started to push myself even more.
In March 2014, I moved to Bedfordview, and this is when I became 100% committed. I started to gym 5-6 times a week. Slowly the results started to show, and once you see results, it becomes addictive!
The high point for me was when I visited Cape Town again in November 2014. When my god son saw me, he looked at me and asked: ‘where’s your tummy?’
My family and friends complimented me on how much weight I lost, and it made me feel proud!!
When I returned to Johannesburg again, I weighed myself for the first time, and found out I lost 45kgs!!! I was over the moon!! I could finally take off my shirt in the bathroom at gym, and shower and even sit in the steam room.
Today I’ve lost 52kgs so far, I was 158kgs, I am now 106kgs! And my goal weight is 95kgs.
All it takes is motivation, discipline, hard work, commitment and a strict diet!
My Diet/Eating Plan:
I don’t eat bread, fried food, takeaways, oil foods or rice.
I don’t drink any gas cooldrinks, I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t smoke.
I eat Lots of fruit and veggies every day, I drink lots of water and I’m very strict about what I eat and drink.
My Work Out Plan:
I gym 6 times a week, 1hr 30min a day.
I do 40 minutes Cardio every day, and 35 minutes weight/muscle training( every day different muscle groups) and I do 15 minutes stomach/abs exercises every day.
The only Supplements I use is Nutritech Whey Protein and Supplements SA Thermogenic Fat Burner (which works wonders!)
My Advice to those wanting to lose weight:
It has to start somewhere, it starts with YOU!!
You have to want it with all your heart!
Commitment, hard work is required to achieve your goal. A good diet and exercise program is needed! You have to believe in yourself, don’t listen to negative people or comments, be strong, motivate and uplift yourself every day, every moment!!
