Don’t get trapped in your life

Hi everyone.

My message today is to remind you that you only have one life and it should be beautiful. It should be everything you dreamed of. You should never allow yourself to be trapped in a life you do not want. I feel extremely passionate about this.

I practice it aggressively in my daily life. I have learned my lessons and never again will I live in a situation that does not feed my soul and make me overjoyed to be alive.

I now fear death only because I love life so much more!

Many of you know my story. I was overweight, chain-smoking in the boardroom as an executive in a listed company and unhappy in my life. I was a workaholic neglecting my health, the people I loved and everything to pursue the things I did not really need.

I was living a half-life. I was living a lie. I was stuck like a broken record. Like a hamster on a wheel. That is no life! I knew somewhere deep down I wanted to thrive and not just survive.

It took huge courage for me to give up all the things I thought were important. To simply walk away and quit my very well paid job. To take my savings and risk it all on my Sleekgeek dream. To put my trust in the universe.

Now I simply ask when I am afraid… what is the worst thing that can happen? Is anyone going to die? The possible outcomes are usually not so bad as you think.

Last night I was invited to a dinner for a group of people in the local CT internet community. I chatted to the lady who organized the event on behalf of the company she worked for. I could see she hated her job. I could see she was tired. All her words and actions showed it. I dug deeper with her. It turned out she was going to leave the dinner at 11pm to go home and do more work! I told her the universe was not going to end and she should go to bed. She sighed and said she wished. She then opened up that she was neglecting her boyfriend. I had flashbacks to my former life. She chatted for a while. I realised I was talking to someone who was living  a mere shadow of her life.

I looked her in the eye and told her that she needs to set boundaries. She needs to create some balance and possibly find a new job that is a joy and not a constant stressor.

I know too many people that are STUCK in their lives.

If you hate your job – GET OUT

If you hate your relationship/marriage – GET OUT

If you are unhappy with your health – DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your life – MAKE ACTIVE CHANGE

My message is simple once again. We only get one life and I want you to live the best life possible. We are not earth to exist.

Health is not about just eating clean and training dirty. Health is as much about your mental well-being, management of stress and your mindset.

You have the power to change and write your story. Live life on your terms. No matter how trapped you feel. Or how fearful you are there is a way to take control.

You may have read my “Perfect Day” post in a newsletter I wrote on a similar theme in May this year. Use it.

It is a great tool to give you direction.
