This is a little story about my health and fitness journey that started in May 2013.
Its been a good 6 months to get to where I am and I have lost over 23.5kgs since the beginning of the year and 19.6kgs in the last 6 months. A lot of you will say wow that’s way to fast but with my new fitness levels and clean eating I am determined to keep this off.
I was 115kgs at the beginning of the year and on my home scale this morning I weighed 91.5kgs!
I am determined to get to 90kgs by my birthday on the 19th of November 2013 and I bet I am going to ….and my goal to be below 89! My evetnual goal weight is 85kgs or an amazing 82kgs! But Im loving this now and I want to see where I can go.
What I have learnt is that you need to know that weight loss is not only about exercise! We fool ourselves thinking that its fine to do a 1 hour workout and then go home and eat like a horse. No, No No… that no good! I believe It consists of 70% CLEAN eating and 30% exercise.
I weighed 130kgs the day I had my baby on the 23 March 2012 and thought it looked totally fine. I got down to 115kgs January 2013 and said its fine I’m a mom I have just had a baby girl. She was already year old at that point… so I had fooled myself that I had an excuse.
Something clicked in my brain in May 2013 thinking that was not good enough. I signed up to the 12 week Getfit challenge which really ignited my fitness levels!
(P.s I don’t gym, I don’t run, I don’t run in mud through rivers up mountains and I definitely don’t do group fitness classes)
Well that all soon changed very quickly!
Yes I now run / walk (so proud of my 2.5km NON stop run I did for the first time last week Tuesday! ), I do trail run’s through bushes, dirt roads, up mountains, cross rivers, get cuts and bruises, fall hard, loose my breath that I want to vomit and sweat like a pig!
I also see a personal trainer twice a week, Taebo classes twice a week, aqua aerobics and at least 3 7km’s trail run’s a month and 1 or 2 road runs!
I now follow a strict diet protein and veg diet until I get to my goal weight and then I will continue a clean eating diet and seriously make it a way of life! Trust me I have done them all, you name the diet and I will say yes I have done it! But one thing that is seriously working this time round is the fitness levels!
I try my best to do some form or exercise at least 5 – 6 days a week and that’s a 60min sweating session of sorts! I have a day off normally on a Wednesday and one day off on the weekend but I am so addicted to exercise now that I feel guilty if I don’t do something!
I want to be your motivator, I want to be your support! When your feeling down and just cant get up think of me!
I want you to think of where I have come from and where I am going. Its not all about being super skinny. It’s not all about fitting into the best outfit, looking like a sexy accessory an some mans hip.
To me getting healthy and losing weight is about being a healthy Wife and Mom to my family! My daughter is now 19 months old and at her first sports day I want to take part in the Mom’s race and win it for her without killing myself and losing my breath being overweight!
I want to have the energy to play outside with her and live a healthy life style! I want to be able to walk up a flight of stairs and not be out of breath! I want to be in the correct BMI category and kick this obese nonsense in its butt!
I don’t want to have a heart attack or high blood pressure cause I am FAT! And one of the main reasons for this weight loss and fitness kick is I had my daughter early she was 5 weeks prem because I had really high blood pressure and uric acid levels and had to have an emergency C-section!
I was the cause of her suffering for the first 5 weeks and really that’s not fair!
