Hello everyone,
If you were not aware 20 (2 x teams of 10) INTREPID Sleekgeekers, most of whome have NEVER done a race, let alone 10km decided to STEP UP to the plate! .. and took up my challenge to enter the X-man race so that we had a goal to work towards.
I mean who could resist “A 10km trail-run followed by an epic-fierce course of 30 obstacles!” Right?
Today they announced that the race has changed from “22-24 September 2012 to the NEW DATE of 22-24 February 2013.”
I have real mixed feelings about this since we have been focussed on the date. Of course I am sad since I was pumped for my first race but I also respect that they may have realised things were going to be bigger than they anticipated (which happens) and rather do it RIGHT.
So by that time we should be SUPER trained 😀
Anyway … here is the communication from them fresh from my inbox:
DEAR X MAN CHALLENGERS!
We have some epic and some above average news to break today.
The awesome vibes, if you haven’t been keeping up-to-speed, are that our “X MAN South Africa” event has just got bigger and better!
X MAN has received an enormous and unprecedented amount of interest from individuals, teams, corporates & media as well as from a ton of partners and sponsors who have all committed to the first ever X MAN South Africa. We have received over 400 entries in the last 3 weeks… on top of the 300 hundred that signed up when entries opened on 1 June 2012. We have a vibe people! Challengers from across South Africa are ready to take on Fort Wolff!
In the best interest of making this event the most spectacular of its type and place it at the top of the pile as the ‘must-do’ event on the South African Adventure Calendar, we’ve gone ahead and committed to making X MAN bigger and better, first time around!
The above average news is that due to huge expansion plans, and all the awesomeness that it will bring to the X MAN event, we have to announce a date change to X MAN South Africa from 22-24 September 2012 to the NEW DATE of 22-24 February 2013.
While this means we have had to push things out, it also means we are now going to bring some of our other plans forward. Have no fear, because the ‘Toughest social adventure race in Africa’ just got tougher!
February 2013, Fort Wolff will host the first ever “X MAN South Africa Summer Heat Challenge”.
You can expect a longer course, more obstacles and perhaps most demanding of all; a weather system that will deliver a searing hot and blerrie dry course! Life as an X MAN Challenger just got tougher, can you hack it?!
We’ll be making some big announcements with regards to our new partners, sponsors and the changes to the course and classes in the coming weeks!
Please accept our apologies for any disappointment. If the change in date has made it impossible for you to attend, please contact us on info@xmansa.com to request a full refund, no questions asked.
We’re in this for our X Challengers, a big and better event means everyone wins!
“RISE ABOVE THE REST”
Regards,
The Major
